Michel de Nostredame, was a 16th-century apothecary and author, who is widely considered by his followers to be the greatest prophet of all time. Nostradamus’ reputation with conspiracy theorists is credited to his 1555 book Les Propheties – a collection of cryptic messages and prophecies known as Quatrains. Nostradamus is credited with predicting the rise of Adolf Hitler in 1933 and the 1666 Great Fire of London. John Hogue, a self-described rogue scholar and world authority on Nostradamus, believes Nostradamus was the real deal when it came to predicting the future.
Speaking at a live symposium on Nostradamus, Mr Hogue said: “The thing that is really, uniquely remarkable about Nostradamus prophecy – the 16th century French prophet was born in 1503 and died in 1566 – he has at least one prophecy he made that all the debunkers who made a career to try and debunk him out of existence and have failed, have to submit to.
“He said: ‘I will be far more well known after my death than after my life.’
“And he got that one right. He was also a very sloppy astrologer so I’ve aimed, since I’ve studied him deeply, to be as sloppy as he is.
“Because it’s not so important how you put together your divination tools, it’s really more important how many times you get it right.
“There are astrologers who savaged him in his own time, who exist in the footnotes of his life’s story solely because they felt he was a bad astrologer, but he was actually quite accurate.”
Nostradamus prediction: Here are the most chilling predictions yet to come true in 2019
1. The outbreak of World War 3 in 2019
Among Nostradamus’ more dire predictions about the future is the threat of international war destabilising global security.
Nostradamus’ followers point to a particular passage, Quatrain Century VIII, which mentions the East weakening the West.
Century VIII 59-60 reads: “Twice put up and twice cast down, the East will also weaken the West.
“Its adversary after several battles chased by sea will fail at time of need.
“First in Gaul, first in Romania, over land and sea against the English and Paris.
“Marvelous deeds by that great troop, violent, the wild beast will lose Lorraine.”
Further passages in the same quatrain speak of the “holy temple” being plundered, France falling to ruin and a butcher “gaining an empire through force”.
2. The rise of the Antichrist the war that follows
A terrifying passage jotted down in Quatrains 77 to 81, describes the birth and rise to power of the Antichrist.
When this happens, the “Great Red One” will shed the blood of the innocent, widows and virgins alike.
He was actually quite accurate
This will come in the wake of a 27-year-long war which will ravage the Earth.
Nostradamus wrote: “The antichrist very soon annihilates the three, twenty-seven years his war will last.
“The unbelievers are dead, captive, exiled; with blood, human bodies, water and red hail covering the earth.”
3. A monster flood will wipe out the planet
In Quatrain 16, Nostradamus speaks of a “great and sudden flood” appearing from the place where Hieron built his ship.
This could be a reference to Hiero I of Syracuse, a Greek tyrant who oversaw the ancient city of Syracuse.
The flood will be unlike anything ever seen before by mankind, rising higher than any tidal wave in history before it.
Nostradamus wrote: “At the place where HIERON has his ship built, there will be such a great sudden flood, that one will not have a place nor land to fall upon, the waters mount to the Olympic Fesulan.
“Those at ease will suddenly be cast down, the world put into trouble by three brothers; their enemies will seize the marine city, hunger, fire, blood, plague, all evils doubled.”

4. The rise of the English Empire
At some point in the future, Nostradamus’ predicted the English Empire will rise again and rule for 300 years.
Nostradamus wrote in Century 10, Quatrain 100: “The great emitter will be for England, the all powerful one for more than three hundred years: great forces to pass by sea and land, the Lusitanians will not be satisfied thereby.”
In Quatrain 95, Nostradamus also mentioned “a very powerful King” will seize control of Spain, taking the land and the sea to “subjugate the South”.
The prophet wrote: “To the Spains will come a very powerful King, by land and sea subjugating the South: this evil will cause, lowering again the crescent, clipping the wings of those of Friday.”
