Flights can be hugely dull for those who have to wait in the airport lounge for a long period of time. It can often lead to passengers getting frustrated and impatient – and doesn’t always bring out the best in people. However, the actions of one man in a USA airport warmed the hearts of those who saw him. A photo of the traveller was posted to Facebook where it is rapidly going viral.
The Facebook post shows the man bonding with a young toddler in an adorable snap.
Both are absorbed in an iPad as the adult appears to show the infant what to do.
The two were complete strangers but made friends during the wait at the airport, the post revealed.
The toddler’s dad Kevin Armentrout explained what had happened in the photo caption.
He revealed the infant had wandered up to the man – named Joseph Pat Wright – and he had happily let her sit next to him.
The two played together for a full 45 minutes in a very sweet episode that touched the little girl’s father.
Armentrout posted: “Last night, while waiting to board our plane, @_carterjean_ was being her usual inquisitive self wanting to meet and say “hi” to everyone she could, until she walked up on this man.
“He reached out and asked if she wanted to sit with him. He pulled out his tablet and showed her how to draw with it, they watched cartoons together, and she offered him snacks. This wasn’t a short little exchange, this was 45 minutes.”
“Watching them in that moment, I couldn’t help but think, different genders, different races, different generations, and the best of friends.”
Armentrout praised the actions of Wright and was inspired by his openness towards the child.
“This is the world I want for her,” Armentrout added. “In a country that is continuously fed that it’s so deeply divided by beliefs, I want her life to be filled with moments like this… not liberal or conservative republican or democrat, socialist or capitalist, just HUMAN.”
Armentrout included a shoutout to Wright in the Facebook post: “Joseph from @samsungus in Oklahoma, if this should happen to find you. Thank you for showing my daughter what kindness and compassion looks like. Continue to shine your light in the world. #HateIsLearned.”
The post, uploaded at the weekend, has accrued well over 130,000 shares. It attracted numerous comments from Facebook users sharing their own experiences of kindness.
It also drew the attention of Wright’s relatives who joined in to praise him. “I love this! And I’m not surprised!” LinTaylorlor posted.
“Joseph Pat Wright (my brother in law) is a Christian man who treats everyone as a friend. He’s a true blessing and your little girl is an Angel herself! She’ll have a friend forever in him.”
Last month a photo went viral of a letter from a girl confessing her love for a close friend, penned as she nervously flew to meet him.
The American girl, named Amanda, admitted her “crazy” antics in the emotive letter, which saw her plan to visit her BFF during his airline layover in Washington DC and let slip her true feelings.
The plans were later found by a member of the cabin crew and posted online. “Found this in the back pocket of a seat on an aircraft I was cleaning last year,” posted the flight attendant. “Where ever you are, I hope it went well for you.”
